Introduction
Attending a job interview can be daunting. You have made all the primary preparing for the interview and you have no fear for it now. Maybe a few butterflies, but that's normal. A. Make Sure You identify the Right Venue
It's an easy mistake to make, particularly if an organisation is spread over a amount of sites. It is best, where possible, to carry out a dry run of the journey, identifying the definite construction and entrance. With a large building, you might even want to go in and speak to the protection guard for details. They are unlikely to let you go beyond the reception, but they will probably give you a few directions ("It's on the third floor at the far end of the building. B. Make Sure You Take all things You Need to the Interview
1. Your C.V. You can scribble some prompts onto it (just bullet points) to jog your memory while the interview. Bring a few (clean) copies of your C.V. For the interviewer or panel, in case they express an interest.
2. Your portfolio, containing qualifications and other documentary evidence.
3. A copy of the job specification
4. Your invitation (as this will comprise the details of your interview and may be beneficial when you arrive at the reception area)
5. Any materials the firm sent you along with the invitation.
6. A note pad and pen. Taking notes serves two crucial purposes. Firstly, it shows that you are giving the interviewer your undivided attention (just so long as you speak the right balance of note-taking and retention eye touch - the interviewer doesn't want to look at the top of your head for minutes at a time!). C. What to Wear
Your interviewer will form an introductory impression of you within the first few seconds of meeting you. It is recommended that you wear a blue or grey suit, black shoes and a white, cream, pale yellow or pastel-coloured shirt or blouse. Subtle use of colour can create the impression of a lively, energetic individual. Black can be a minuscule too conservative.
It is vital that you are clean, tidy and well-coordinated. And, remember, the more faithful you are, the greater the negative impact of even the smallest aberration. For example, if man is immaculately presented in every respect, but they have grubby fingernails or scuffed shoes, these small details will draw a disproportionate amount of attention to themselves.
After The Interview
You can continue to make a good impression even once the interview is over.
You can send 'Thank You' cards to all the interviewers, thanking them for taking the time out of their busy schedules to interview you. Write in your cards in blue ink, as study has shown that this conveys sincerity. Mail them within 24 hours after the interview, so that they will reach the recipients in the next one or two days (whilst deliberations may still be taking place).
Not many candidates send thank you cards following an interview, but such a courtesy will be interpreted as a strong indication of a gentle and pro nature, manufacture you a memorable candidate.
